Artist Bio
Julie G. Rowe is a fine art photographer based in South Carolina, with a Cognate in Art History and a foundation in traditional darkroom printing. In 2005, she completed a week-long National Geographic Expedition in Santa Fe, NM, studying under Dan Westergren of National Geographic and Carl Tappan — a Santa Fe photographer and instructor who was once an apprentice of Ansel Adams.
A professional photographer since 2007, her award-winning work — recognized in Piccolo Spoleto, the Georgetown Art and Wine Walk, and the international juried exhibition ACA 2025 — draws from a library of over 25,000 images. Using intentional camera movement and intricate layering (sometimes 5 to 100 layers per piece), Julie transforms reality into luminous, one-of-a-kind compositions.
Each print is a made-to-order fine art piece — no AI, no shortcuts, just light, movement, and craft.
Images of light, movement and color are my palette.
Using layers and layers of images to create a place of fiction from reality - an idiom of my own.
Life has no lanes, only layers.
