Life is layers – layers of seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years. Life is layers - layers of people, places, creatures and nature. Life is layers – layers of emotions, experiences, thoughts, and decisions. Peeling back a layer or adding one, changes the life that is living it. Some layers completely cover, others are like gossamer and reveal the layers beneath, others leave only a mere whisper that they existed, and some vanish altogether.
Using layers and layers of images to create a place of fiction from reality – an idiom of my own. Images of light, movement and color are my palette. I use intentional camera movements on a plethora of objects to create my “paint”. My ICM collection of images include flowers, grass, trees, sky, lights, shadows, reflections, water, my paintings, crystals, etc. There is usually one focal point in the work, and I layer and layer using my ICM images to create another existence for that focal point. My photo art may contain 5 to 100 different layers. According to an ancient Greek philosophy, “everything can be everything and everything can be turned into everything else.”
A believer in Eclecticism - life has no lanes, only layers.
